In my house, there is always a roll of aluminum foil, although the truth is that what I use the least is to preserve food. The foil or foil can give much play out of the kitchen, especially when we want to paint an object or room of the house.  Keep reading to see how useful it can be.

1.- TO MOVE HEAVY FURNITURE

Usually, when we have to paint a room, we always have to move some heavy furniture (the sofa, the bookcase, a dresser, a table …). One way to do it quickly and protecting the floor is by placing some pieces of aluminum foil beneath the legs of the furniture. It is imperative that the matt side be the one that is in contact with the ground since this part slides more than the shiny face of the aluminum.

2.- TO PROTECT THE KNOBS AND HANDS OF THE DOORS

If we want to paint a door and do not want to disassemble the knob or the handle, we can wrap it with aluminum foil and cut the excess with a cutter, thus avoiding staining when we paint.

I know that with bodybuilding tape you can also wrap but from experience I tell you that we will spend more material and we will lose more time in its placement and in its elimination (the bodybuilder’s tape breaking into a thousand small pieces and you consuming yourself just thinking that you still there are half a dozen more knobs left …). Also if with the bodybuilder’s tape we go without protecting any part of the knob, the Law of Murphy of the Painter will be fulfilled: what you do not cover or cover, no matter how small, will be stained with paint.

3.- TO COVER THE CUVETTE

This trick is handy for when we are going to use different colors, or we want to lengthen the life of the bucket. You have to cover the inside of the bucket with aluminum foil and pour the paint when you finish house painting you have to remove the foil, and you have the bucket as new for another use.

If you want to paint and have no bucket, you can use any elongated container that you previously lined with aluminum foil (ideal for those holidays in which you realize at the last moment that you have no bucket or possibility to buy it because everything is closed).

4.- TO WRAP THE PAINT CAN

We take the can of paint, we overturn it on the bucket, and when we put it back to the vertical, it goes! We have the drop dripping down the side of the boat. We go running for cardboard, a magazine, a paper … whatever it is to put it under and not to stain the surface where we are going to leave it. After a while we retake the boat because we need more paint, but it has been stuck to the cardboard and, besides, when we touched the boat we stained it with the color that dripped down the wall (this is another of the Painter’s Murphy Laws: by far be careful, if the paint has stained the outside of the boat you will always catch it so that you end up staining). Has not this happened to anyone? Because to me yes, until it occurred to me to wrap the paint can work with aluminum foil. For this it is enough that the aluminum paper reaches half of it, we will not stick it to the walls, but we will leave it a little loose so that if it drips, the paint falls between the can and the aluminum foil.

5.- TO WRAP THE BRUSHES

Wrapping the paint brushes with aluminum foil will prevent them from drying out between hand and hand or if we should stop painting for a few minutes (the ¿that smell of burning are the lentils that I put in the fire … two hours ago !!! ! ???). This trick will also help us to keep the brushes after painting and once we have removed the remains of paint.
